58,300 people receive emergency food each year through the Mid-Michigan Food Bank’s hunger-relief network.

An estimated 1,115 different people receive emergency food assistance each week from a food pantry, soup kitchen, or other agency served by the Mid-Michigan Food Bank.

Nationally, 37 million people rely on a food bank.

Last year, the Mid-Michigan Food Bank distributed 7.6 million pounds of food within its service area, and demand has been up at least 30% over the previous year.

A large portion of our clients are families with children needing food assistance for the first time.

24% of clients served by the Mid-Michigan Food Bank report having to choose between paying for food and paying for utilities or heating fuel.

32% had to choose between paying for food and paying for medicine or medical care.

Food from local food drives is up from 2% to 10% of the total of food we distribute.

On top of the donations delivered to us, 52,000 miles were driven in picking up food and 47,857 in delivering food.
