Empty Bowls – October 6, 2009
More than 800 handmade bowls by the Potters Guild, Clayworks, and other Lansing area potters.
Soup, bread and beverages donated from many local business.
And hundreds of people who appreciate the art of pottery and who want to end hunger in our community.

Add these three things together, and you get a successful community event supporting the Mid-Michigan Food Bank.
“We are fortunate to work with such talented artists in efforts to reach out to our community”, said Kathe Smith, Operations Supervisor of the MMFB. “Empty Bowls is a wonderful event for families as well as businesses to enjoy. It brings the whole community together for a great cause.”
For a donation of $20, attendees could choose their own handcrafted bowl, as well as their choice of donated soup, and a drink. All proceeds go towards feeding the hungry through the Mid-Michigan Food Bank.
The meal is intentionally light so that when participants leave and are not full, they will look at their empty bowl, and remember that there are people in our community who go hungry every day.
If you were unable to attend, there are a few gorgeous bowls still available. Contact Kathe at 517-702-3358 or
